2nd Annual National Heidelberg Alumni Meeting in San Francisco

Heidelberg Alumni from across the US are invited to the 2nd annual national alumni meeting on the weekend of September 25 - 27, 2009 in San Francisco, California. Former students, exchange students, graduates, researchers, professor and other friends of Heidelberg University founded Heidelberg Alumni U.S. (HAUS) in October 2008 with the inaugural meeting in New York City. Since then HAUS has welcomed more than 100 members and many more participated in regional events offered in New York, Chicago, Ohio and California.

German World Film News

A WOMAN IN BERLIN
starring Nina Hoss (“Yella”, “Jerichow and written and directed by Golden Globe nominee Max Färberböck (“Aimee and Jaguar”) is set during the 1945 Red Army invasion of Berlin and based on the published diary of Anonyma, (Ms. Hoss), a former journalist and photographer who remained anonymous until after her death. Virtually banned upon its initial publication in 1953, the book became an international literary phenomenon after a new edition was released in 2003.
Nina Hoss is one of Germany’s most acclaimed young actresses. Her performance in “Yella” earned her the Best Actress awards at the Berlin Film Festival and the German Film Awards. Co-Starring: Evgeny Sidikhin, Irm Hermann, Rüdiger Vogler, Ulrike Krumbiegel, Rolf Kanies, Jördis Triebel, Roman Gribkov, and Juliane Köhler (“Aimee and Jaguar”). In selected theatres.

THE TIME TRAVELER’S WIFE
Starring Rachel McAdams and Erik Bana, this marks Robert Schwentke’s first big Hollywood production. A romantic drama about a Chicago librarian with a gene that causes him to involuntarily time travel, and the complications it creates for his marriage. Co-produced by Brad Pitt. Rang 3 at the box office on opening weekend.

INGLORIOUS BASTERDS
Quention Tarantino’s latest film starring Brad Pitt, Méelanie Laurent, Eli Roth, Christoph Waltz, Til Schweiger, Daniel Bruehl. Diane Krueger, Achim Diehl und Martin Wuttke opens this weekend. In Nazi-occupied France during World War II, a group of Jewish-American soldiers known as "The Basterds" are chosen specifically to spread fear throughout the Third Reich by scalping and brutally killing Nazis.
