Austria Wins Its First Oscar - Real Gold for “The
Counterfeiters”
Even if the Oscar statue only consists of gold-plated
brittannium, Stefan Ruzowitzky, director of Oscar
winner “The Counterfeiters,” is a golden
boy for Austria and, with co-producer Studio Babelsberg,
also for Germany. This year again, a German-language
submission has won an Oscar in the category “Best
Foreign Language Film” – something accomplished
thus far by only four other countries.
